The economic growth of India is picking up; however in Bihar the growth rate is quite dismal. The per capita income of people is not more than 4,000 rupees, which comes to around 340 rupees per month for a person. The employment generation programs have failed to get the desired results. As a result, unemployment has hardly decreased in Bihar. Under the Millennium Development Goals where the eradication of unemployment among youth (male and female) is a major focus, KGVS has been sincere to reduce unemployment among the poor and unemployed youths (male and female) in the villages and slums of the districts of Jehanabad, Patna, Arwal, Gaya and jamui by imparting vocational training to the unemployed male and female in different income generation activities.
In 2017-2018 with the support of community contribution and donation, KGVS imparted income generation vocational skills to poor men and women in trades like sewing & cutting, appliqué & embroidery, diesel pump set repairing, computer training, food processing, beautician, motor driving and vegetable cultivation. Under this activity of KGVS, 890 male and 610 female from Kako, Ghoshi, and Makhdumpur blocks in Jehanabad district, Karpi block in Arwal district, Punpun block in Patna district, Belaganj block in Gaya district and sono of jamui in Bihar were successfully covered and benefited under the program. This VT program helped lot in bringing sustainability to the socio-economic status of the youth in the family and society.
