Environmental Awareness: The ‘Environmental Awareness Program’ of KGVS aims to enhance understanding of the general masses about the relationship between human beings and the environment This program was initiated by KGVS in 2012 which also continued in 2017-18 with following objectives:

  • To promote environmental awareness among all sections of the society.
  • To encourage non-governmental organizations, mass media and other concerned organizations for promoting awareness about environmental issues among the people at all levels.
  • To mobilize people’s participation for preservation and conservation of environment.

A two day environmental awareness workshop on 23-27.08.2017 was organized by KGVS at its own premises in Kako block in Jehanabad district. The program was attended by 604 participants (male-400 and female-204) who came to know about the uses of micro-organism for soil fertility like PSB, KSB, Mycorhyzza, Rhziobium and importance of the maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in daily life as well as protection of plants and greenery for human survivals.

Seminar for Quality Education in Govt. Schools: A two-day seminar (7-11.11.2017) on the topics of “promoting quality education in govt. schools in Bihar” was organized at Deep Narayan Singh Institute, Sheikhpura, Patna to build and broaden the perspectives, policies and practices on inclusive primary education through teacher-training, advocacy and consultative processes. A total of 173 participants (Male-143 & Female-40) participated in the seminar to make it a success. Some important points that were emerged in this seminar are as follows:

  • There is a need to utilize, strengthen and monitor the government’ efforts on inclusive education that are already in place.
  • The concept of human rights, which is a prerequisite for inclusive education, needs to be included in teacher training program and also in school curriculum.
  • School Management Committees (SMCs), if aptly mobilized can become a real vanguard for inclusive education.
  • Monitoring is one of the most important factors to strengthen a program and it should be carried out by stakeholders and not by implementing agencies.
  • There is a need for coalition among like-minded organizations. This also helps us in developing common grounds.
